Adjacent to the owners home and accessed via a rough track, the barn has been converted into three self-catering holiday cottages of differing sizes, all retaining some of their original beams, which add to their charm and character.The cottages are set in an ideal base for exploring the South Coast and its glorious surrounding countryside. For walkers, there are many footpaths to discover, including the South Downs Way. There is a good bus service at the end of the drive, with access to a railway station and also the cross channel ferry from Newhaven to Dieppe.The beautiful village of Seaford is situated close by, with the beach in walking distance, meaning you leave your car behind and enjoy a picnic on the beach with your loved ones. A 30 minute drive will take you to the sunshine coast of Eastbourne, with its pier, theatre and flower decked promenade. The historic town of Lewes, home to Lewes Castle and Harvey’s Brewery, where visitors are welcome to visit, is a must, and a great day out. In the opposite direction is Brighton, where guests can take a trip on the British Airways i360 vertical cable car, or stroll “The Lanes” and find a bargain. UKC565) has been stylishly restored to a very high standard with exposed beams, bespoke kitchen with Miele appliances, Wesley Barrell sofas designed by the owner, Jim Lawrence lighting with French antique chandeliers and beautiful limestone flooring that flows seamlessly out to the terrace. If the weather is fine, play a spot of tennis, enjoy a drink on the croquet lawn or indulge in a game of petanque, by arrangement with the owner.Udiam Farm was formerly the Guinness Hop Farm, and The Stable was once home to the Guinness horses that pulled the wagons, laden with hops. The farm overlooks the River Rother and part of the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway (used around six times a year for special events). Its trains steam through 10½ miles of countryside from Tenterden to the moated Bodiam Castle. Take a stroll across the grounds to this fairytale 14th century castle where you can also ride the Kent and East Sussex steam railway. Indulge in a meal at the local Michelin starred restaurant and sample the excellent local wines from award winning vineyards. Battle is 8 miles, Royal Tunbridge Wells is a half hour drive, as are the coastal towns of Eastbourne, Hastings, Bexhill-on-Sea and Rye.
