The East of England is a popular are for cottage holidays. Firstly on a practical basis it is easy to get to, being just a few hours drive from Greater London or the Midlands. The countryside is flatter than in other areas of England although there are some gentle rolling hills or wolds. One of the main attractions of the area is the Norfolk Broads. Although they are most associated with boating ( see Boat-Holidays.co.uk for boating holidays in the area) they also offer some wonderful landscapes to explore and enjoy. Norfolk also has a good coast line with beaches and small villages that offer relaxing breaks. Great Yarmouth offers all the facilities that you would expect of a popular seaside resort, while the historic city of Norwich or the town of Kings Lynn also offer day trips with plenty to see. Suffolk also has some special areas that are well worth visiting such as the seaside town of Southwold or the fishing village of Aldeburgh. Essex too offers some lovely countryside settings or the commercial resorts of Southend or Clacton if that is more what you are looking for. Whatever your tastes, a break the East of England is one that is well worth it.
