The upcoming film Ammonite which stars Kate Winslet was recently filmed in nearby Lyme Regis and tells the story of a Victorian fossil hunter. Lyme Regis offers a range of shops boutiques and eateries or take a stroll along the seafront promenade to the historic Cobb and harbour. River Cottage HQ is two miles north of the cottage and there are many other local attractions including Beer Caves Seaton Tramway Crealy Adventure Park Bicton Park Killerton and Knightshayes Court. Charmouth is a relaxing coastal village set in a delightful part of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has a stunning beach which is a fantastic spot for fossil hunting. The historic town of Lyme Regis (3 miles) is known for its associations with Jane Austen and Henry Fielding and is home to the famous 13th-century Cobb Harbour. The town also offers a range of places to eat and drink as well as independent shops a theatre cinema and a beautiful beach with views over Lyme Bay. The area makes an ideal gateway to Dorset s Jurassic Coast and there are many miles of coastal rural and clifftop walks to enjoy with Golden Cap just 6 miles away. On entering this light attractive and welcoming 18th-century cottage which is located up a steep quiet lane you will find yourself in the spacious open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The delightful lounge is a lovely space to relax in with comfortable seating Smart TV/DVD music system a warming wood burner and a large selection of DVDs. There is a charming dining area and the kitchen is fully equipped with an induction hob oven microwave washing machine and fridge. The freezer and tumble dryer are stored in the adjacent utility area. Upstairs there are two cosy bedrooms: one double room with a TV and glimpses towards the sea and a twin room overlooking the garden. Please note the twin room has reduced height in the eaves. You will also find a shower room complete with shower and WC on the first floor. Heading outside there is a small courtyard to the front of the property. The pretty back garden is reached via a few steps and has a sunny terrace with garden furniture a BBQ and a large sloped lawn area. From here you can enjoy an al fresco meal and admire the fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. Parking is available on the lane which leads to a small nature reserve. Set within the magnificent 350 acre Rousdon Estate with its Mansion Chapel Gate Lodges and gardens there is direct access to the Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliffs National Nature Reserve where wild deer foxes and squirrels can be seen. The property is situated a short distance from the Jurassic Coast England s first Natural World Heritage Site. This stretch of coastline spans more than ninety miles of cliffs beaches and coastal formations such as Durdle Door and Ladram Bay. Visit nearby Lyme Regis with its unspoilt seafront sheltered beach and array of shops and places to eat or why not enjoy a boat trip from the ancient harbour. Lyme Regis is an ideal location for families as children can play and adults can relax on the sun loungers and catch up with some reading. Other places to visit nearby include the village of Beer with its caves and sheltered bay the seaside towns of Seaton and Sidmouth Axmouth with it s Axe Estuary pretty Branscombe and numerous National Trust properties and gardens all easily accessible by car. There ae many other attractions including Crealy Adventure Park Axe Valley Wildlife Park Seaton Tramway and Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium. Stepping into the property leads you into the light and airy kitchen which is equipped with an electric oven and hob microwave fridge/freezer dishwasher and washer/dryer. There is also a kitchen table ideal for breakfast or supper. Heading into the spacious dual aspect lounge/dining room you will find this a delightful room for all the family to enjoy. In the lounge area you can relax on the sofas in front of the TV/DVD and the dining area provides plenty of room where you can enjoy relaxing meals. Moving upstairs to the first floor there are three bedrooms. Firstly there is a double room with views overlooking the estate and an en-suite shower room and WC. The second bedroom is a twin with zip-and-link beds which can be a double on request and there is also a cosy bunk bedroom. Completing this floor is the bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC. A flight of steep wooden stairs lead up from the first floor to a small chill out area for children with toys and games. Please be advised that this property does not have its own garden or outside space however there are plenty of walks around the Estate to explore. Off-road parking is available for two cars in the car park which is very close by.
